The Circle and Society

​

"Psychoanalysis, Pakistan" is a circle or "rally point." It is open to all.  We promote five internet channels: this website, instagram, youtube, substack, and our WhatsApp circle.

The circle and its society operates through work among those who return to our events with their bodies. Please be advised that the vast majority of our activities are open to the public and often for free or a modest price. We consider this rally point to be an opening into our emerging society and as an effort toward the establishment of an Initiative link with the wider activities of the New Lacanian School and World Association of Psychoanalysis. Membership in the circle is based upon active participation in the life of the circle, an exposed commitment to work, and payment of a fee.

The Pakistan Psychoanalytic Society is the organization and steering cartel of "Psychoanalysis, Pakistan." This society is open to each one that has demonstrated an enduring commitment to psychoanalytic work in the region. It does not offer any professional or clinical guarantee. Members have taken it upon themselves to guide the psychoanalytic work of this society by registering their desire to do so.  An interviewing cartel shall be formed to decide upon admission. To be retained annually within the society, one must demonstrate active commitment to work. Membership in the society is based upon cartel interviews, a demonstrated commitment to work in the cause of psychoanalysis, personal analysis, work in cartels, and payment of a fee.

What Constitutes Psychoanalytic Training?

We consider psychoanalytic training to begin in the work that one does within our circle, in the cause of psychoanalysis, which includes, minimally the following two pathways, often simultaneously: (1) personal analysis with an analyst of the School, (2) engagement with cartels (small psychoanalytic working groups) registered with our society and with the larger School.

 

To the greatest extent possible, we advocate that one brings one's body inside of four walls. 
 

Personal Analysis, At What Cost?

There is no standard treatment. As such, there is no standard cost. Fees are decided between yourself and an analyst. As a possible analysand (patient) in Pakistan, you may propose to your analyst, who may be in another country, to meet online for most of the year, with an agreement to meet for a few weeks at the end of the year in their home country. Or, perhaps you make an agreement to pay a minimal amount to your analyst, based upon your assessment of your income level. It is up to you to find your way forward.
